Vacancy for St Nicholas East London




The Bishop of Grahamstown is
seeking to appoint an Incumbent (1 Peter 5: 1-4) for the Church Unity
Commission (CUC) church of St Nicholas Church, Beacon Bay, East London.


East London is a small city
on the East coast of South Africa.  A
friendly city, with beautiful surroundings and beaches.  East London has a number of excellent


This is a full time position commencing
January 2017,  and it includes all the
provisions of canon law.


St Nicholas as a Church Unity
Commission church is a multi-denominational church made up of a congregation
that comprises primarily Anglicans, Methodists and Presbyterians members. 


Over and above routine
ministry requirements we have a Wednesday morning communion service, and two
services every Sunday at 07h30 and at 09h30. 
There is also a weekly service at a Retirement Home.


The church is financially
sound and we have a warm, caring and loving congregation.


We are actively trying to
recruit young families and we have a caring and proud Sunday School which we
would like to grow.  We are also in need
of expanding our church choir.


St Nicholas is looking for a
strong spiritual leader with a passion for pastoral care and preaching.


In addition the following
qualities are required:-


Will be open to and
accommodating of Anglican, Methodist & Presbyterian beliefs & practices


Will continue to develop shared
leadership in the church, demonstrating an openness to questions


Values ministry to seniors
and those who are unable to attend church


Will nurture and develop young
families and children


Values the development of cultural
diversity and interaction


Is friendly and welcoming and
will lead, and not push people to God


Is a good listener and
counselor, prioritizing a ‘for you’ not ‘from you’


Is a skilled communicator
with an emphasis on Bible teaching and preaching


Is progressive, enthusiastic
and is energetic.


Is theologically &
biblically well qualified.


Has a passion for outreach
and the wider community.
